What is an ISO 9004 ?
ISO 9004 is a guidance document that complements ISO 9001 for organizations aiming to enhance their quality management systems (QMS). While ISO 9001 focuses on certification and regulatory requirements, ISO 9004 provides advice on improving and optimizing quality management practices to ensure long-term success. It helps organizations focus on continuous improvement and achieving greater efficiency in their QMS. ISO 9004 is not intended for certification or legal use, and its most recent update in 2009 aligns with the 2008 version of ISO 9001. It should not be confused with ISO 9014, which is a non-existent standard.
How HR teams use this term
HR teams usually use ISO 9004 when they write policies, explain employee communication, review payroll or leave records, or keep employee data clean in an HRMS.
