What is an ISO 9001 ?

ISO 9000 is a collection of quality management standards, with ISO 9001 being a specific standard within that collection. ISO 9000 includes guidelines for establishing a Quality Management System (QMS), and one of the standards, ISO 9001, outlines the requirements an organization must meet to achieve certification. ISO 9001 helps organizations demonstrate their ability to consistently deliver products and services that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements while also fostering continuous improvement. Among the ISO 9000 family of standards, only ISO 9001 requires formal certification.

How HR teams use this term

HR teams usually use ISO 9001 when they write policies, explain employee communication, review payroll or leave records, or keep employee data clean in an HRMS.
