What is CV / Resume?
A CV (Curriculum Vitae) and a Resume are documents that showcase an individual’s skills, qualifications, and experience, often used in job applications. While both serve the same purpose, they differ in usage and content:
- CV: A detailed and comprehensive document covering one’s entire career, including education, work history, publications, and achievements. Commonly used in academic or research fields.
- Resume: A concise summary (1-2 pages) focusing on relevant skills and experiences tailored to a specific job. Preferred for corporate or non-academic roles.
How HR teams use this term
HR teams usually use CV / Resume when they write policies, explain employee communication, review payroll or leave records, or keep employee data clean in an HRMS.
