What’s different about running HR in Gurugram

A few things shape Gurugram HR that don’t apply in the same combination anywhere else.

The simplest one: Haryana doesn’t levy professional tax. That’s good news for the per-employee cost line, but it confuses HRMS products that default to deducting some PT for everyone. The right answer is zero PT for Gurugram-resident employees, full stop. Most generic systems get this wrong.

The workforce here often lives across state lines. A typical Gurugram engineer lives in South Delhi, commutes to DLF Cyber City or Golf Course Road, and might travel to a client site in Noida twice a week. The HR system has to know each employee’s actual work location, not their residential address, and apply the right state’s rules. Mid-month moves between Gurugram and Noida are common when people change roles.
